Tammy Bub: New IPL Bikini Masters Pro

“I was blown away by myself and what I could accomplish. I loved the way I looked.”

BEN YOSEF: Congrats on a great 2021 competition season! 54-years-young and bringing what you bring to the stage! You are an inspiration! How are you feeling about your 2021 debut competition year?

TAMMY BUB: My first time ever competing in Bikini was May of 2021. I was blown away by myself and what I could accomplish. I loved the way I looked. I have worked very hard to get the weight off and build up muscle again, especially at 54 years old. I never thought I could be this fit and strong again. I am feeling good about competing in 2022.

BEN: Love it! And YES, you looked amazing! What do you attribute your success to? How are you able to bring such a fantastic package to the stage?

TAMMY: I have great support from my husband. He is my best motivator and biggest fan. My coworkers cheer me on and my friends keep my goals going forward. I workout in the gym 4 days a week, alternating lower body exercises with upper body weights. Then 2 days a week I go for a jog or lately I have picked up biking. I eat healthy with the help of a personal trainer for the past 1 1/2 years to stay on track.

BEN: So great that you have so much support! Other than having a support team, what other advice or tips would you give to athletes to help them be successful in fitness and competition? And do you have any special advice for athletes who are 50+?

TAMMY: I can attribute my success so far to just being true to myself. By setting realistic goals for myself and my time. I put a lot into this each week, along with my busy work, family and lifestyle. I feel, especially for women over the age of 50, it is great to work with a trainer to help you stay focused on your goals. You can engage in all of their expertise and tips to keep you on track. This has helped me a lot and has also given me a great sense of motivation to do better and be more accountable for myself and what I have to present on stage. This is not only a goal that I have for competition, but for a lifestyle change that I’ve made for myself.

“MY GOAL IS TO STAY MOTIVATED AND IN SHAPE THROUGH THE SUMMER. IN 2023 I PLAN ON WORKING ON THE SAME GOALS FOR SURE!”

BEN: Are there changes with your workouts compared to say 20-30 years ago? What about changes in your diet/nutrition?

TAMMY: I have always joined a gym my entire adult life. I used to just do a lot of cardio and not much weight lifting. Mostly because I did not understand how to push myself to gain any significant muscle. But now I know how to use the equipment correctly and set actual goals for myself. I have had two trainers, Jeremy Heath and Kat Ryan to thank for my success. I enjoy working out again. My diet has changed drastically in the past two years. I have cut out all processed foods and dairy products. I have so much energy and stamina, it is amazing. I used to have painful joints and inflammation in years past. Now, due to my healthier lifestyle, diet and supplements I feel great.

BEN: Love it! Once again, you are an inspiration. So excited for what the future holds for you! Any final thoughts?

TAMMY: For 2022 I have two competitions for the rest of the year. My goal is to stay motivated and in shape through the summer. In 2023 I plan on working on the same goals for sure! I have meet some really nice people along the way competing in the IPL. Ben, you have great passion for a healthy competing environment. I enjoy meeting others that are also competing or have in the past. I also encourage others that they can do it too.

Natural Bikini Magazine: The Dangers of Anavar and Clenbuterol for Bikini Competitors

“For Bikini competitors aiming to attain the coveted stage-ready look and the pursuit of ‘perfection’ sometimes leads to extreme measures, including the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) like Anavar and Clenbuterol. However, what many competitors may not realize is the hidden dangers associated with these substances, especially when they’re administered by coaches without adequate disclosure of their risks.”
