IPL Women’s Athletic Pro Champion, Kaylin Payne
“I would say that this was the best look of physique, suit and posing I have achieved to date.”
The 2016 IPL New Jersey PRO/AM in Jersey City, New Jersey on May 21st featured the very first IPL Pro face-off.
In Pro Women’s Athletic was Vanessa Campos versus Kaylin Payne. And it was INTENSE! Campos and Payne faced each other for the first time on the Amateur stage back in March at the 2016 IPL Natural Gainz Magazine Classic in NYC. At that show Campos defeated Payne in the Women’s Athletic class, beating her by an 11 point margin. But on the IPL PRO stage in New Jersey the tables were turned. Kaylin Payne brought an improved, fuller package, and in New Jersey it was Payne by a 4 point margin.
BEN YOSEF: Congrats again on your Pro win in New Jersey! You looked incredible and really raised the bar for IPL Women’s Athletic. Do you feel this was your best look to date?
KAYLIN PAYNE: Thank you very much. I was very proud of the package I brought to this division. This division is new to me and pushes me out of my comfort zone. I would say that this was the best look of physique, suit and posing I have achieved to date.
BY: You looked pretty amazing at your first IPL show, The Gainz Classic in March of last year, where you won your IPL PRO CARD in both Figure and Women’s Athletic. But, you seemed to be bigger, and fuller on stage in New Jersey, a couple months later. What did you do to achieve that NJ look?
KP: I have heard this statement about being fuller and bigger a few times. It confuses me. I was actually three pounds less in New Jersey. If I had to pick anything that changed, I would say I achieved better conditioning and posing due to having more time to prepare for the show. The difference eight weeks can make.
BY: Oh, wow. Yes, it’s funny how that works! Well, you definitely looked improved. You are also a top IPL Figure PRO. And, you surely gave Campos a run for the money in both divisions, in both shows. Which is your favorite division or do you like both, equally?
“…I cannot be the exact same as a previous competition. something has to be different.”
KP: Wow, that’s a tough question! I would say, as I spend time in the sport of physique building my self -perception is consistently changing. I did not use to think I was good enough for Figure. I started as a Bikini competitor in this sport. I didn’t think I had full muscle or big enough muscle. After several competitions and seeing all my photos, I realized I am definitely a Figure athlete. Besides, I like the classy look and poses. I like that it is straight forward in regards to posing. However, I am loving the creativity aspect of Athletic and I think my body fits well in this division also. So I guess I like them both equally, but for different reasons.
BY: What do you think it was that gave you the edge over Compos in New Jersey, compared to her beating you a couple months earlier, in New York?
KP: Becoming a Pro in my previous competition was amazing. For my Pro debut I really pushed to bring a Pro-worthy package. I believe that my desire to always bring a better package to stage each time I compete sets me apart. I worked hard on nailing my posing and I truly having fun on stage. In New Jersey I feel this paid off. For me, I cannot be the exact same as a previous competition. something has to be different.
“I hope I can defend my Athletic Pro Championship title in New Jersey this May, and maybe even come out a Figure Pro Champion as well.”
BY: Awesome! Well, you are a very exciting competitor to watch. And, now a top IPL Pro and Pro Champion. I am looking forward to seeing you back on stage. When can we expect to see you competing again?
KP: Well, that’s a great question! I hope I can defend my Athletic Pro championship title in New Jersey this May, and maybe even come out a Figure Pro Champion as well. Each prep my body responds slightly different, so we will see.
BY: Well, I look forward to it! There will be some new IPL physiques for you to battle against in 2017, so I am excited for that as well!
KP: I am excited that the list of IPL Pro athletes is growing. There are some amazing athletes and we are all so different. I know I’ll have to bring my best to that stage. NMI
