For some athletes, success comes after years of grinding it out on stage. But for Amber Whatley, her very first time stepping into the spotlight changed everything. A mother of two with a powerful faith and a passion for health and fitness, Amber stunned the crowd at her IPL debut, earning her Pro Card on the spot and securing the Natural Bikini Magazine Fall 2025 cover. Balancing motherhood, faith, and competition prep, she has emerged as a role model for women everywhere who may be doubting their own potential. In this exclusive cover story, Amber shares her journey, the challenges she faced, and the lessons she’s carrying forward.

"Honestly, it feels surreal. I’m still blown away."

Natural Bikini Magazine: Amber, congratulations on your incredible debut and welcome to Natural Bikini Magazine! How does it feel to not only land the cover but also become an IPL Pro in your very first competition?
Amber Whatley: Thank you so much! Honestly, it feels surreal. I’m still blown away. I never imagined that in my very first competition I’d not only earn my IPL Pro Card but also land the cover. It’s such an incredible honor, and I’m truly proud of how far I’ve come and the hard work it took to get here. This whole experience has reminded me that sometimes you’re capable of more than you think when you step out of your comfort zone.
Natural Bikini: This was your very first competition ever. What inspired you to step on stage?
Amber: I had played with the thought of stepping on stage after my mom brought it up after seeing some of my hard work paying off. I’ve been dedicated to health and fitness for a couple years and wanted the opportunity to help others in their fitness journey. I decided to step on stage not only to further that goal, but to prove to myself, and my kids that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Natural Bikini: As a mother of two, how did you balance family life with the demands of competition prep?

"...once I got a routine down it became easier. They even helped keep me on track on the more difficult days!"

Amber: So, I’m actually a mother of 3. My youngest was stillborn, but I have 2 incredible boys at home who were very supportive during my prep. Both my boys are hockey players, so finding the right balance and schedule to work around work/school and their hockey schedule was a little challenging at first, but once I got a routine down it became easier. They even helped keep me on track on the more difficult days!
Natural Bikini: Thank you for sharing something so personal with us, Amber. You’ve mentioned your faith as your foundation. How did faith influence your journey to the stage?
Amber: Yes! God is my foundation, and my strength. Competing started as just an idea, but before actually committing, I prayed on it. Asking God for guidance, and direction. And I felt led to committing and going all in. I wanted to honor God through every process. I stayed in constant communication with Him, praying through the challenges, the moments of doubt, and rejoicing in the physical and mental transformation and what He was doing to and through me. I give Him all the glory!
Natural Bikini: What was the biggest challenge you faced during prep, and how did you overcome it?

"I think the biggest challenge was the thought of having to walk on stage in front of everyone. The fear of failure, and when doubt crept in."

Amber: I think the biggest challenge was the thought of having to walk on stage in front of everyone. The fear of failure, and when doubt crept in. But, I prayed through it, and God gave me the confirmation and strength to keep going.
Natural Bikini: How did it feel stepping on stage for the very first time, not knowing what to expect?

Amber: It was scary at first, if I’m being honest! I was so nervous, but my awesome coach, Chris Eugenio with My Way Fitness, talked me up, and helped calm those nerves. Once I walked out on stage the nerves melted away, and I had such a fun time! The whole experience was incredible, including the wonderful people I met.
Natural Bikini: Looking back, what’s one thing you learned about yourself through this experience?

"It’s taught me resilience, discipline, and the power of believing in myself, and those lessons carry into every area of my life, not just the stage."

Amber: I discovered that I’m stronger than I ever gave myself credit for, both physically and mentally. This journey pushed me outside of my comfort zone and showed me that I can handle challenges I once thought were impossible. It’s taught me resilience, discipline, and the power of believing in myself, and those lessons carry into every area of my life, not just the stage.
Natural Bikini: Now that you’ve earned your Pro Card, what’s next for you in the IPL?

"Earning my Pro Card has turned what I thought would be a 'one and done' into something more."

Amber: When I first stepped into this, I thought I’d just do one show, check it off the list and be able to say I did it. But I ended up having so much fun and gaining so much confidence that I can’t wait to do it again. Earning my Pro Card has turned what I thought would be a “one and done” into something more. Now, I’m excited to keep pushing myself, growing as an athlete, and showing others that sometimes the things you take on “just to try” can end up changing your life.

Natural Bikini: What message do you hope your journey sends to other women…especially mothers who might be doubting their own potential?

"...it’s about building physical and mental strength, proving to yourself that you can do hard things, and showing your children what discipline, resilience, and self-respect look like."

Amber: I want women, especially mothers, to know that prioritizing your health is not selfish, it’s necessary. When you pour into yourself, you’re able to pour more into your family. Fitness isn’t just about the physique…it’s about building physical and mental strength, proving to yourself that you can do hard things, and showing your children what discipline, resilience, and self-respect look like. Motherhood is one of the toughest jobs in the world, but it’s also one of the most powerful platforms to inspire. By investing in your own growth, you’re not only honoring yourself, you’re setting an example for the next generation that strength, confidence, and perseverance are worth chasing. NATURAL BIKINI
