Competitor Spotlight: Charla Paynter

“Make no small plans, they have no magic.”

AGE: 56 | HEIGHT: 5’10”

STAGE WEIGHT: 132 lbs.

OFF-SEASON WEIGHT: 136 lbs.

BORN & RESIDE: Scottsdale, Arizona.

MARITAL STATUS: Married.

CHILDREN: None.

IPL DIVISION(S) & STATUS: Bikini Masters Pro & Evening Gown Masters Amateur.

NUTRITION

Primary Proteins: Herbalife Protein Shakes, Chicken, Turkey, Fish.

Primary Carbs: Oatmeal, Brown Rice, White Sweet Potatoes.

Primary Fats: Raw Unsalted Almonds and Avocado.
Off-season Calorie High & Prep Calorie Low: I don’t actually track calories. I work more to eat in balance, as not all calories are equal. This works well for me. I ate six times daily until the day of the IPL show. Two full whole food meals, two Herbalife shakes and two healthy snacks. I eat throughout the day, starting 30 minutes after waking up until about 30 minutes before bed. A strong metabolism and balanced diet program is best for me.

TRAINING

Favorite Exercises: Stairs, Sprinting, Tawnya Cline Fit Camp Workouts, Jessie Holland Glute and Sport Performance Training and Hiking.

Most Impressive Body Part: My back, arms and abs build quickly and are stand out features. I like being tall!

Least Impressive Body Part: When I was in high school my intramural sports knick-name was “bubble-butt.” But after 35 years of long hours in a computer chair that nickname went away! A central part of my training now is focused on building my glutes and taking pressure off my back, with proper form.

THE CLOSE UP

One Thing On My Bucket Is…Complete an Olympic length Triathlon.

Something That Either No One Knows, Or Would Be Surprised To Find Out Is…My significant other and his family are Amish. I adore their community for their commitment to God, family and community. We met through our shared love of horses. We often ride and drive our horses with Amish buggies and carriages in our Scottsdale neighborhood, which is quite a head-turner.
Words To Live By Or Personal Motto: “Never lie to yourself.” And, “Make no small plans, they have no magic.”

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?

Compete and finish a Triathlon in California in May 2021.
