NATURALMAG: First off, congratulations on becoming the IPL’s Connecticut Contest Promoter! How exciting! How are you feeling about your new role?
LEAN KELLY: Thank you so much to the IPL for this amazing opportunity! I’m beyond excited to share this phenomenal all-natural bodybuilding federation with competitors in my home state! The IPL has this fabulous vibe of authenticity and excellence that I am proud to bring to CT! I’m thrilled to take on the new challenge of promoting a show! It feels empowering! I’m flexing new muscles taking on this role!
NATURALMAG: Can you share some details about the upcoming IPL Connecticut contest and what makes it unique compared to other events in the area?
LEANN: The IPL itself is unique! This show will reflect that! The competitors are showcased and treated like family! No one will be rushed offstage or treated like just a number. Competitors are free to express their unique vibe while showing off their hard earned physiques. My goal here in CT is to give East Coast competitors a fabulous show with a personal touch and emphasis on making their experience stress free, fun, and empowering! This show will reflect my upbeat, positive vibe!

NATURALMAG: How do you plan to engage and attract local talent in Connecticut for this contest?
LEANN: I already have local competitors coming to the show! I will have local fitness and health oriented businesses present too! I’m gonna use social media to promote, but I’m certainly doing some old fashioned grassroots legwork with flyers and posters too! There will be a strong CT flavor to the event! I also think it’s a huge draw for East Coast competitors that this is the first IPL show in New England!
NATURALMAG: What do you think are the biggest challenges and opportunities in promoting a new contest?
LEANN: The logistics and planning can be challenging, but I have learned a lot chatting with IPL Pro and IPL Virginia Promoter Samantha England about how to stay very organized during the planning process! I think it will be an asset to bring a new contest to the area, especially an all-natural league. There is a demand for more shows for natural competitors. There is an opportunity to truly inspire the whole community to prioritize health and wellness with our show!

NATURALMAG: How has your experience competing in the IPL and becoming a Swimsuit Model Pro influenced your approach to promoting and organizing a contest?
LEANN: I learned how important it is to create a contest that is strictly for the athletes! I want every competitor to feel seen and feel at ease to be themselves. Every competitor is called by name and their bio is shared. I love that! It sets IPL apart! I want each person to leave feeling like it was the best experience ever! A personal experience!
NATURALMAG: Can you give us a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work that goes into organizing a contest like this?
LEANN: The venue is important certainly! Center Stage is a local theatre with so much heart! Finding great hair and makeup artists is a must! Superb judges with stage experience is so important! There are plenty of components from vendors to ticket sales and host hotels! In the end, I want a joyful experience that really celebrates every athlete!

NATURALMAG: What role do you see social media playing in the promotion and success of the IPL Connecticut contest?
LEANN: Social media is so important! I want to reach as many competitors as possible! I want to spread the word about our IPL family, and introduce more people into our space! Social media is a great place to not only spread the word about the show, but also to show my personal experience on stage with the IPL!
NATURALMAG: Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring and current IPL athletes who have their eye on the 2025 IPL Connecticut Championship contest?
LEANN: I would tell anyone interested in competing to come to this show, because they are gonna fall in love with the IPL! I want each person to not only bring their best physical package to the stage but to feel free to truly be themselves. Make friends, ask questions, share, have fun, and shine your unique light!
