At 48, Veronica Murphy is proving that some of life’s most exciting chapters can begin when you least expect them. A wife, mother, executive, athlete, and now SEAM Magazine cover model, Veronica has built a life that refuses to fit neatly into just one box. After an incredible showing at the 2026 IPL Connecticut Championship, where she earned eight IPL Pro Cards across multiple divisions, she continues to embrace new challenges while balancing career, family, fitness, beauty, style, and her own personal growth. For Veronica, this chapter isn’t simply about what she has accomplished. It’s about continuing to evolve, having the confidence to pursue something new, and discovering just how much may still be possible.
"Seeing the cover appear on social media was a complete surprise, and I remember just staring at it for a moment because I couldn't believe it was real."
SEAM MAGAZINE: Veronica, first of all, congratulations on being featured on the cover of the Summer 2026 issue of SEAM Magazine! Between earning eight IPL Pro Cards at the 2026 IPL Connecticut Championship and now landing a magazine cover, this has been an incredible chapter in your life. What was your reaction when you found out you were the cover feature?
VERONICA MURPHY: Thank you! I knew I was going to be featured in the magazine, but I had no idea I would be on the cover. I actually found out when SEAM announced it on Instagram. Seeing the cover appear on social media was a complete surprise, and I remember just staring at it for a moment because I couldn’t believe it was real.
It was an incredibly special moment. There are so many talented athletes and models, so to be selected for the cover was something I never expected. Looking back, the cover represents so much more than a photograph. It’s a reminder that life can still surprise you in the best possible ways when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone and try something new.
SEAM: For readers who may be meeting you for the first time, tell us a little about yourself. Who is Veronica Murphy beyond the titles of wife, mother, executive, and IPL Pro athlete?
VERONICA: At my core, I’m someone who loves learning and challenging myself to grow. Whether it’s leading an organization, competing on stage, writing, or trying something completely new, I’m happiest when I’m developing into a better version of myself.
I also care deeply about helping other people reach their potential. That’s one of the reasons I’ve spent my career in Human Resources. I believe leadership is ultimately about creating opportunities for others to succeed.
Outside of work and competition, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, writing, and staying active. I’m curious by nature, and I think that curiosity has led me down some unexpected and rewarding paths.
"I've realized that balance isn't about doing less. It's about being intentional with how I spend my time and making sure the things that matter most receive my best energy."
SEAM: You’ve talked about balancing career, family, fitness, and personal growth. Have you always been someone who thrives on staying busy, or has finding that balance been something you’ve had to learn over time?
VERONICA: I’ve always had a lot of interests, but balance is something I’ve had to learn. Earlier in my career, I thought success meant saying yes to everything and constantly pushing harder. Over time, I’ve realized that balance isn’t about doing less. It’s about being intentional with how I spend my time and making sure the things that matter most receive my best energy.
Fitness has actually helped me become more balanced. It requires discipline, consistency, and planning, but it also reminds me to take care of myself. Ironically, making time for my own well-being has made me more effective in every other area of my life.
SEAM: You said if someone had told you a few years ago you’d become an IPL Pro athlete and magazine cover model, you never would have believed them. What inspired you to step outside your comfort zone and begin this journey?
VERONICA: As a child, I dreamed about being on the cover of a magazine. Like many childhood dreams, life took me in a different direction. I built a career, raised a family, and focused my energy on other priorities. Modeling wasn’t something I had thought about in years.
If someone had told me just a few years ago that I would become an IPL Pro athlete and appear on the cover of a magazine, I honestly would not have believed them. It simply wasn’t part of the vision I had for my life at that time.
What inspired me to begin this journey was realizing that we don’t have to stop dreaming just because we get older. We can still discover new passions, pursue opportunities we never expected, and accomplish goals we never imagined. This experience reminded me that some dreams don’t disappear. They simply wait until we’re ready to pursue them.
"I've learned that pursuing your own goals isn't selfish. It's healthy. When we continue growing as individuals, we bring more energy, confidence, and perspective to the people we love and the work we do."
SEAM: One of the most powerful messages in your story is that growth doesn’t stop with age. At 48, what have you learned about yourself that you wish you had known twenty years ago?
VERONICA: Twenty years ago, I was raising my daughter while building my career, continuing my education, and trying to balance all of the responsibilities that came with that season of life. My health simply wasn’t the priority that it is today, and looking back, I understand why. Sometimes we’re doing the best we can with the time and energy we have.
What I’ve learned is that every stage of life brings new opportunities to grow. Just because I wasn’t able to prioritize my health then doesn’t mean I missed my chance. At 48, I’ve learned that it’s never too late to invest in yourself, set new goals, or discover strengths you didn’t know you had.
I hope women know they don’t have to compare their journey to anyone else’s. Your timeline is your own, and growth doesn’t have an expiration date.
SEAM: Many women feel like they have to choose between being successful in their careers, being present for their families, and pursuing personal goals. What has your experience taught you about making room for all of those things?
VERONICA: I don’t believe balance means giving every area of your life equal attention every day. Different seasons require different priorities, and that’s okay. There were times when my career demanded more of me, times when my family needed me most, and now I’m in a season where I’m also investing in personal goals that I once put on hold.
I’ve learned that pursuing your own goals isn’t selfish. It’s healthy. When we continue growing as individuals, we bring more energy, confidence, and perspective to the people we love and the work we do.
"I still have goals, but I also want to appreciate where I am today rather than always believing happiness exists at the next milestone."
SEAM: Fitness has clearly transformed your physique, but how has it changed your confidence, your mindset, and the way you approach everyday life?
VERONICA: Fitness has certainly changed the way I look, but the biggest transformation has been in my mindset. It has taught me discipline, resilience, and consistency, and it has shown me that meaningful results come from small decisions repeated over time.
At the same time, bodybuilding has taught me something else that I think is just as important. There is always room for improvement, and there will always be another goal to pursue. It’s easy to become so focused on building more muscle or achieving an even better physique that you forget to appreciate how far you’ve already come.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that confidence doesn’t come from constantly chasing perfection. It comes from recognizing your progress, being proud of the work you’ve put in, and enjoying the life you’ve created while continuing to grow. I still have goals, but I also want to appreciate where I am today rather than always believing happiness exists at the next milestone.
SEAM: SEAM celebrates beauty, fashion, and self-confidence. How would you describe your personal style, and what helps you feel your absolute best whether you’re in the office, at home, or stepping onto a competition stage?
VERONICA: I would describe my personal style as classic, polished, and expressive. I’ve always loved fashion and beauty because they’re another way to express creativity and reflect my mood. Whether I’m wearing a dress for work, a casual outfit on the weekend, or an evening gown or competition suit, I enjoy putting together pieces that feel authentic to who I am.
I’ve also learned that feeling confident doesn’t have to be complicated. One of the things that makes me feel my best is sticking to a simple skincare routine every day. I can do my makeup in less than five minutes, and if I have tinted sunscreen, mascara, and lipstick on, I already feel polished and ready for the day.
I like to dress for the occasion, but comfort is important to me too. You’ll often find me wearing Rothy’s flats or Birkenstock sandals because I want to enjoy where I’m going and not worry about my feet hurting. I also love wearing a few signature pieces of jewelry: my earrings, a necklace, my watch, a bracelet, and my rings. Those little details make me feel put together without feeling overdone.
Whether I’m going to work, spending time with family and friends, or stepping onto a competition stage, I think confidence comes from being prepared and being yourself. The clothes, makeup, and accessories should complement who you are, not define you.
"If my story encourages even one person to stop waiting for the 'perfect' time and start pursuing something that matters to them, then sharing it will have been worthwhile."
SEAM: Success often comes with moments of doubt that people never see. Was there ever a point during your journey where you questioned yourself, and what helped you keep moving forward?
VERONICA: Absolutely. There were moments when I wondered if I was too old to start competing, whether I belonged on stage, or whether I was capable of reaching the goals I had set for myself. I think everyone experiences those thoughts.
What kept me moving forward was realizing that doubt doesn’t mean you should stop. It simply means you’re doing something that matters to you. I stopped waiting until I felt completely confident and decided to take action anyway. Looking back, every opportunity that has changed my life began with a decision to move forward despite uncertainty.
SEAM: You have a message that really resonates. If there was only one thing a reader remembers after finishing this interview, what do you hope she takes away from your story?
VERONICA: I hope they remember that it’s never too late to become the person you’ve always wanted to be. Whether it’s changing careers, prioritizing your health, pursuing a dream you’ve put on hold, or simply believing in yourself again, you don’t have to let your past define your future. None of us know what we’re capable of until we’re willing to take that first step.
If my story encourages even one person to stop waiting for the “perfect” time and start pursuing something that matters to them, then sharing it will have been worthwhile. SEAM
